Author Payment Fees:
- The only costs for authors to publish with the Journal of Green Building are the following two: 1) a $25 fee to submit a manuscript to our peer review platform run by Scholastica, and 2) an article processing fee of $75 for papers that receive two positive reviews and are accepted for publication. The manuscript submission fee ($25) is paid on the Scholastica Platform at the time of submitting a manuscript, and this fee is nonrefundable if a paper is rejected. The article processing fee ($75) is requested by the Publisher when an accepted paper goes live on our website and the link for this payment is above. These fees, in a small way, help the journal defray the costs of publication—use of scholarly platforms, production, layout and design, proofreading, printing, website hosting, delivery of metadata to abstracting and indexing agencies, plus much more. The estimated cost for publishing each Journal of Green Building article is between $1,500-$2,000, which, of course, the Publisher will pay apart from the authors’ $100 contribution.
- All papers are published in a restricted format (meaning an institution must have a paid subscription for their faculty to access full content) unless authors wish to publish their paper in Open Access format. The charge for Open Access Publication is $1,800. Open Access publication means no subscription is needed to fully view a paper, which helps promote a paper’s visibility, distribution, and leads to higher citation rates.
Instructor Purchase:
Instructors may purchase a subscription to the Journal of Green Building at a greatly reduced cost ($249 vs. $929). Through the Instructor’s purchase, their university library is granted online access to the Journal of Green Building. Students and faculty will then be able to download the full content of the journal’s more than 1,400 articles, including textbooks—Writing Style and Communication Skills for Undergraduate Engineers, Fate and Transport of Contaminants in the Environment, and Air Pollution: Engineering, Science and Policy. Included with this purchase is the grant of permission for students and faculty to download (for online reading) and to print copies (for offline reading) of any Journal of Green Building article or textbook.
